

Chapter 17 - glassesMerrkan swam down a hallway lit only by the creature upon the chest of Annandra, on his right, and the faint glow emanating from Viidela's wings on his left.Chapter 17 - glasses
They reached a door and pushed forward into a group seated around a table with 8 sides. The octagon was deep brown, and painted upon the surface each side held a rune of power in various shades of red.
Viidela took one of the empty seats near the head of the table. The seat next to hers was larger and the crown of the chair had a golden trident painted on it.
As she took her seat the rune before her pulsed with light and faded.


Chapter 16 - HairWhen Merrkan came to he wasn't sure he was alive. His eyes were open but blackness pervaded his sight. Slowly his eyes adjusted and he was aware of a faint white glow that was the only source of light. He twisted his neck looking at the light to the right of his bed.Chapter 16 - Hair
His body folded in half as he jerked upright, and moved himself to the side of the bed next to his. Viidela lay on her stomach, her wings curled tightly against her back. Chapter 15 - LipsMerrkan’s eyes wandered up to observe the expression of Veridean in front of him. He hung his head dismally, awaiting her reply; his fate. Her lips parted slightly before she drew them back into a smile. She reached out and removed the pendant from Merrkan‘s hands.Chapter 15 - Lips

Veridean contracted her right hand, pushing the necklace onto the tips of all her fingers. She lifted the pendant to her lips, kissing it gently. Viidela’s wings throbbed on her back, vibrating in the water and throwing light on various sea creatures as it travelled the surrounding a


Chapter 14 - BreathViidela swam over the wall and charged further down the trench. Swimming into an open area she came to a sudden stop. The chain holding the necklace around Merrkan’s neck snapped, sending the black charm bouncing across the sea floor.Chapter 14 - Breath
Merrkan struggled out of the arms of the mermaid that carried him and chased the trinket. As he got close to the symbol of his curse, the ball jumped from the ground and flew to his chest. The clash sent a flare of light through the water and burned into Merrkan’s body.
His face contorted in pain, but the old man didn’t allow a scream to escap
